what is the raw dog food diet? 10 pts!?

Can someone help me better understand this raw pet food thing? I don’t want to feed my dog purina pro plan anymore. Commercial pet food just isnt working out for us. Anything will help.

I recommend not feeding any of the commercial varieties of meat-flavored baked paste with chemicals added, and instead feeding your dog actual food. The dog’s natural diet is raw meat on the bone. Try it. The dog will love it, the diet will help him teethe properly, satisfy his need to chew, keep his teeth clean and his feces innocuous.

You can buy meat in any grocery store; buy the biggest pieces you can find. There are no “ingredients” nor any “recipes.” Just pick up a chicken leg quarter and hand it to your dog.

Most people start their dogs on chicken; it’s inexpensive and easy to find. My dog gets mostly chicken, then pork, with beef occasionally. She catches herself the occasional rabbit, and sometimes during hunting season I can score her some venison.

The rule of thumb is that the dog should get about 2% to 3% of her appropriate adult weight every day, averaged over a week or so. My dog is lazy and has no job but to keep us company; she only weighs about 50 pounds, so her 2% is a pound, and she can’t eat that much every day. I give her 6-8 oz a day; if I give her a chunk bigger than that, I don’t feed her the next day. She doesn’t mind; she isn’t hungry, anyway: she either ate it all yesterday, or she buried it in the backyard and she’s going to dig it up and eat it this evening. Dogs are weird.
